Visual Liturgy Live Release

If you have purchased Visual Liturgy Live, you may be reading this from within Visual Liturgy itself. Welcome!

There are some important points to note about the initial release. First, the online registration will not be hooked up until the week beginning 21st May. In the meantime, VL will work fine without registration.

Second, some of the service templates are under development. However all the correct templates will flow down from online update in due course.

Finally, be sure to check online update regularly. To do so, run Visual Liturgy Live and choose Help – Online update. The initial updates do not require registration, so when the password dialog appears, you can just click OK even if you are not registered. If it is an application update, you will be prompted to close Visual Liturgy to run setup, which should then run automatically. Finally, to avoid the necessity for a restart, we recommend that you close VL Agent if it is running, before continuing with setup. To do so, right-click the Visual Liturgy icon at bottom right of your screen and choose Exit.

By putting upgrading Visual Litugy Live onto my machine from VL4 I have now lost my Methodist Module, will it be OK just to reload that or will strange things happen?

    Thank you

Did you go through an import module process during setup?

Re-importing should work but it would be good to work out what went wrong with the upgrade, and there may be a simpler way to recover it.

  3. Paul R M says:

Seems rather strange to find notice that online registration does not commence till week beginning 21st May only appears on 21st May, no notice of this on VL website or forums,
I wonder how many wasted phone calls trying to register, to be told team are all at CRE phone back next week, not a very good advert for communication, or encouraging beginning to VL Live

  4. Geoff Tickner says:

I have purchased VL Live, and note that I need to wait to register it.

With VL4 we had 3 extra licences, and would like to use VL Live on more than one computer. Do we need to buy a Team Licence – if so how and how much?

    Please advise

    Many thanks

I am having problems in getting my registration form to be received. It helps telling me to enter the Reg.code or is it serial number. I have done that and it still fails to work

I am having problems in getting my registration form to be received.

This issue is because the online database is not active. It should be rectified shortly (in the next day or two). In the meantime, VL will work OK without registration.

  7. Julian Raffay says:

Cannot get any of the help files to work. I notice that the installer doesn’t appear to have copied them to my hard drive. Tried copying files to installation folder and then in help subfolder. Still no progress. Any advice?

  8. I am having the same problem in that my Methodist module has not loaded automatically into VisLit Live.
There was no opportunity given during installation to go through an import module process.
So what is the best way to install the Methodist module now?
    Regards,
    John

  9. John Hunnisett says:

I am running Windows Vista and have upgraded to VL Live from VL4. When I try to play a hymn tune which is in the VL Live database I get a message: “VL unable to complete an operation. The message is unable to play midi tune.”
Having clicked the Help button on this dialogue, I get the message: Source: at VisualLiturgySupport.Multimedia.Playmid (String sFileName, IntPtr NotifyHandle) Play midi at VisualLiturgy.winActions.PlayMidi(Strings Midi File)

If I open midi files elswhere in my computer, they play without problem.

  10. Peter Benson says:

I have tried to put in my Serial number (the one supplied with my copy of VL Live and I get the reply at Registration that it is not a valid licence code. What can I do?

  11. Judith Stote says:

I have upgraded from VL4 but my registration will not complete. Message says there is an error on the license number.

  12. development says:

    Peter, Judith:
Online registration is not yet working, but should be fixed shortly.

    Tricia, John, re Methodist Module

The VL Live setup should import this automatically. However, if this fails, you have a couple of options. The easiest one is to run VL Live and then insert the VL 4.0 for Methodist Worship CD (content module). Do not allow the CD to autorun. Instead, from VL Live, choose File – Import module. Browse to the CD and select vlmodulemw.mdb from the MWModule folder. Click Open and then OK to import the module.

This is a long operation, so make sure you choose a convenient time.

When it is complete, close VL Live and then re-open. You may be invited to compact the database, which is worth doing. The Methodist material will now be available.

The disadvantage of this approach is that it will not recover any customized templates or texts from your old install. If that is a problem, the other technique is to copy your old database over the VL Live database, and then import the VL Live module.

    As ever, backups are recommended.

I am having problems with the help files too, nothing happens. I am also unable to post on the forums on the visual liturgy website as it rejects me as spam even though I put in the code as asked……

  15. Stephen Holdaway says:

Registration is still not possible on 23rd May. It keeps asking for a valid license code – i don’t know what that is if it isn’t the serial number. I e-mailed a question and was asked what my sertial number was. I gave that last Friday but have heard nothing since. Not a good way to start a launch.

  16. Revd GJHHBM van der Weegen says:

    Sir,-

I read that “the online registration will not be hooked up until the week beginning 21st May”. As Christians, our week always starts on the first day of the week, which is always a Sunday. Do you mean, therefore, “the week beginning the 20th May”? I sincerely hope so!!

  17. David Bowen says:

    ON SCREEN HELP

MENU BAR drop down menu: Visual Liturgy – NO RESPONSE; VL Online, O/L update, CW, VL4, New Paterns for worship – all okay.
TOOL BAR Help – NO RESPONSE.
DIALOGUE BOX Help – NO RESPONSE.
    SCREEN TIPS – NO RESPONSE.

    HELP!

  18. Nigel McGregor says:

Same problems as David Bowen. I need help too!

  19. development says:

We are preparing an update which will enable help. I expect it will be done before the end of next week.

  20. David Felix says:

Similar problems as to the help function. Also can not find Saints on Earth Module even after reinstalling it

  21. George Liddle says:

I have a copy of Visual liturgy Live and when i try to close Vl down it gives me this message ‘error reportVisual liturgy was unable to compleate an operation. object refrence not set to an instanceof an object’ any ideas why this is happening/
finally when i instaled the disc a message said at the end that i could deleate C;\progamfiles\visual liturgy4.
does this mean deleate the previous version of visual liturgy/
    George

  22. development says:

    George,

The shutdown message is probably related to the service planner. We have included a fix in the next update.

The installer is designed to remove Visual Liturgy 4. Check in Control Panel – add/remove programs: if VL 4 is still present, uninstall it. Finally, you can safely delete the Visual Liturgy 4 folder in program files – provided you are happy that you have retained any custom services or texts from VL4 (it does no harm to keep a backup).
