Tuesday tip: Hiding Bible verse numbers

Because all of the texts in Visual Liturgy are semantically tagged, it is relatively easy to make changes to your formatting so that they apply across all of your services. An example is the ability to hide verse numbers from Bible readings.

Providing you have the enhancement pack installed (which provided the Style editor), click on EDIT in the menu bar and then STYLES.

You will be shown a dialog which allows you to control the cascading style sheet (or CSS) that is used to present your service. To hide verse numbers, from the STYLE NAME dropdown box, select the style class “.vlversenumber”.

In the top right hand corner of the dialog, there is another dropdown box entitled DISPLAY. Use that dropdown to select “none”. Where the preview pane previously had some text, it should now have disappeared.

Click the SAVE button and CLOSE the Style editor. Any services you plan should now have your Bible verse numbers automatically hidden from view.
