Friday fill-in: The New New Media Manager!

The more observant among you will have noticed that our Tuesday Tip and Friday Fill-in have become less frequent of late. This is partly due to the holiday season, but mainly to the handover of the role of New Media Manager at Church House Publishing from David Green to yours truly, Andrew Sweeney.

Many of you will know David either personally or through his role as trainer, technical supporter, manager and all-round fount of wisdom on Visual Liturgy, and we will all miss him; I know we all wish him well in his training. Thankfully, with David’s departure, all is not lost. I was able to work alongside him for three weeks at Church House Publishing while he led me through a well-organised program of people to meet and things I needed to know, as well as teaching me as much as he could about the many aspects of his role.

The main interest for those of you in the Visual Liturgy community is the new release of Visual Liturgy Live, of course, and I’m pleased to tell you that we’re now testing the new release, due out later this year. Tim Anderson wrote a few weeks ago about the new smart templates for service planning, and in the next couple of weeks we’ll be focussing on testing that.

In the meantime, I wanted to take an opportunity to say “Hello” and “Thank You.” That’s “Hello” to all those of you that I haven’t yet met; I hope that over the next few months as we finalise and launch the new Visual Liturgy Live, we will have chance to meet and talk about the new version. Imogen and I, supported by many others, will be out and about demonstrating and training, and listening to your feedback. Remember that one of the main features of the new Visual Liturgy Live will be our ability to provide you with new features and content dynamically, so we’re looking forward to hearing what’s on your wish-list.

And the “Thank You” is to those of you who have been so helpful while I get started; I’ve been amazed and impressed by the amount of work that is done by the Visual Liturgy community, as well as by Tim Anderson and his team, and Imogen and the rest of my colleagues here at CHP. It’s very encouraging, and I’m glad you all know as much as you do, and are willing to share it…I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all.

  1. HUGH HOSKINS says:

Please guide me in the way to make a service and to store it. Ex. Morning Prayer. I seem to be having problems with the directions from the booklet.

    Many thanks,

    Hugh
