For today’s Tuesday tip I am going to show you how to customise your very own hymn selection list. Each church has its favourite hymn books and it is very easy to tell Visual Liturgy what those favourite sources are.
This means that when you are picking hymns for your service you don’t have to trawl through mountains of material but instead you can just get Visual Liturgy to pick from the list of your chosen hymn books and therefore save you a great deal of time and effort. To tell VL what hymn books you use, you need to edit your preference settings. Click on ‘edit’ in the top menu bar and select ‘preferences’.
A box will open up which allows you to configure your VL in different ways. Select the ‘sources’ folder on the left hand side of the window.

By clicking on the ‘add’ button located on the right hand side of this screen you can browse through the list of available sources and by highlighting one and clicking ‘ok’, it will add that particular hymn book to your list of chosen sources.

Two further options then allow you to either highlight the hymns found from your specified hymn sources in bold when using the Browser, or only show hymns or songs found in your sources in the Browser.
