Getting liturgical help

One of the things that I am working on at the present time is getting all the notes and commentary material from Common Worship books that are new to Visual Liturgy into the Visual Liturgy help files. Since all that information is on my mind, today’s Tuesday tip is all about getting help.

One of the really useful things about Visual Liturgy and the help facilities is that the software always has a pretty good idea where you are. What it means is that if you are working on a Communion service or a Funeral, the help that appears goes directly to the right liturgical notes.

In the screen below, I’ve opened a Holy Communion service and then clicked on the little yellow question mark in the toolbar. Clicking that question mark makes the help appear, but it has bounced straight to all the liturgical notes and background material relating to Holy Communion.

There are a number of help files available in Visual Liturgy to assist you on your way. For each major set of liturgical material, there is a separate file. So Common Worship has a file, New Patterns for Worship has a file. For Methodist users, there is a separate file and so on.

There is also the main Visual Liturgy help file which focuses on the software itself rather than the liturgy.

You can get to all the help files individually by clicking HELP in the Menu bar and then choosing whichever help file you need.
